Pharmacy Technician Ambassador
Hello, my name is Jane and I have been working as a pharmacy technician in general practice for 9 years. I have been qualified for 22 years and also have experience of working in hospitals and primary care in various roles.
I feel privileged to be able to promote the role of pharmacy technicians in general practice, recruit apprentices and help those in post with further education and peer support.
It is an exciting time for pharmacy technicians especially in general practice. We can have a huge impact and because of this the role is becoming widely recognised and appreciated.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my partner and two sons, you can usually find me on the side-lines of a football pitch! I also enjoy keeping fit, cooking, and baking.

I have worked within the NHS since 2001, graduating from the University of Bradford in 2006 with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy and more recently completed an MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Nottingham. I am currently continuing my studies with the University of Sheffield and I am working towards my ACP portfolio accreditation.
For the last 14 years I have worked within MSK services in Derbyshire. I currently work for Derbyshire Community Health Services as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner; my role is split across MSK triage services and FCP provision in general practice. Within my current role I am a clinical supervisor and FCP supervisor. I am passionate about contributing towards the development of MSK roles and services within Derbyshire.
Outside of work I enjoy time with my family, keeping fit and being a swimming coach for a local club.

I work as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Derbyshire, with more than 20 years of experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. As an ambassador for Health Education Derbyshire (HED), I advocate for the important First Contact Practitioner (FCP) MSK role, I help to deliver support for those considering FCP or already in role, as well as supporting GPs to embed the role in practice.
As an FCP I work closely with his GP and other colleagues to provide the very best care options for patients, ensuring that patients are at the centre of the decision processes.
I enjoy being a committed ambassador for HED, “It’s crucial we support and nurture this new role - providing the right support, information, learning and knowledge. HED is a vital part of making this happen.”
