New T-Level qualifications – Can you help?
HED are supporting Derby College with their T-Level courses from September 2021. T-Levels are new qualifications, equivalent to 3 A-Levels and include placements to get students work ready. Derby College offer T-Levels in Health and Science.
We are working with practices across Derbyshire to support placements in Primary Care, to support the development of our future workforces. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase what general practice has to offer young people.
All students will have completed a package of work readiness delivered by HED and Derby College, you are also invited to take part.
What we need from you:
- Approximately 280 hours of placement access. The student will need to be patient facing if studying health specialism, but they can shadow a variety of teams to get a feel for Primary Care. If they are a science student, they focus on laboratory specialisms.
- This equates to around 1 day a week for 20 weeks or 4 full weeks.
- A mentor to support them in practice, they will be given a workbook to complete so they may need to ask questions during their placement.
- All risk assessments and planning will be completed by Derby College so there will be a minimum amount of input required from the practice to get the student started in placement. They will also have a placement lead supporting you and the student over the duration of the placement. HED will be developing an induction plan to support the practice.
